100th Post

This is my 100th post which just happens to fall on the morning after a very long day at work, which left me distracted and frustrated. Following my very long, emotional and frustrating day, I came home and was blessed with this...

It might not look like much to you... but to me, it is my heart, my passion, my life long calling... it is evidence of the very first Board Meeting of Girls Only Ministry. I am currently in the process of developing the blog into a website, so when that gets done, I will let you know... but for now... just review how fabulous the pictures are, because they sure are precious to me and I praise Jesus for all He did in getting this Ministry to this point. Man I LOVE HIM!

There's no turning back now...

The invites have gone out, the catering has been scheduled, the decorations are fabulous, and I am ready to go... I think...

You see, in my "spare time", I have been creating a Non Profit Organization called Girls Only Ministry. I have a been blessed with a fabulous lawyer how has helped me get things going and an amazing accountant who is ready to get the paperwork filed once everything on the legal side is complete. I am so close, I can just feel it.

This friday, is Friday the 13th, it is not significant because of the stipulations and horror movies that this date normally centers around, but this year, in 2009, on Friday November 13th, I will stand up in front of family, friends, and people I have never met and put my dreams and desires on the line. I will share the vision the Lord has given me for this ministry, HIS ministry. I will ask for their help and I will offer them a fabulous meal. Most of all, I will be taking the largest leap of faith I have ever experianced in my 28 years of life.

I am excited, I am as ready as I can be and I am nervous! The goal is not centered around the number of people that attend, but for God to be Glorified, and I am so excited to see it un fold!

You, yes, YOU, if you are reading this, YOU are invited to attend. I hope to see you there. I promise, it will be worth it!

Alone and yet, okay

Interestingly enough, I have come to find out what happens when one makes a bold statement about our one and only savior Jesus Christ. Recently I let a few people in on this new adventure the Lord has me on. For those who do not know yet, I have recently founded a Non-Profit Organization called Girls Only Ministry. Girls Only Ministry is a place that provides shelter, education, and love to girls within the community between the ages of 13 and 23. It is my belief that these years are the most formative in a young woman’s life, and I passionately believe these are the years where their relationship with Jesus Christ has the opportunity to drastically impact their lives. It is the desire of this ministry to use the Word of the Lord to teach and transform lives. It is the desire of this ministry to bring glory to Jesus as a result of the relationships that are built in relationship with His calling on the lives of those who love Him.

So back to the recent events… I let a few people know that I would be having an event for the community and would like invite them. Their response as a whole, was less than warm, it was cold, freezing actually. And today, a day later, the comments are still coming. I have included some of my favorites for your amusement… Don’t worry I have also included my comments, that I wish I could say, as well…

Them: “Don’t you have to be kind of smart to start a Non-Profit Organization”
Me: “Why thank you for thinking of me as a “smart” person.”

Them: “Don’t you know this is a hard time in the economy and no one will ever get on board with this “idea” of yours financially” (Yes this person actually used their fingers for quotes around the word idea)
Me: “Well, the good Lord is already on board, so who else do I really need, right?”

Them: “You do realize this won’t make you any money right?”
Me: “And do I make a lot of money now?”

Them: “Why would I care about something that does not involve me or directly affect me?”
Me: “Because you are apparently a “Christian” and I hope you would love those that Jesus loves.”

Them: “I think you are making a huge mistake”
Me: “Thank you.”

Them: “You do know that your religious beliefs are not the only truth out there right?
Me: “Correct me if I am wrong but if Jesus is truth, how can something that contradict Him or His word also be considered truth?”

And finally… my favorite…
Them: “You are young, I made plenty of mistakes when I was young and had no idea what to believe as well.”
Me: “Oh, do not make a mistake, I know what I believe, I believe in the way, the truth and the light and that there is no other way expect thru Jesus Christ.”

I am sure if I could say what I REALLY wanted to say, I would have to include a few symbols (@!*%) to make it okay for the blog…

Sometimes standing with Jesus means we stand alone, and are we really okay with that?
I have come to understand that fear is one of the enemy's favorite tools to keep us from going forward in our lives. As soon as we make a decision to step out in faith and do what God is telling us to do, immediately the enemy will bring fear. He'll put thoughts in your mind like, "What if I fail? What will others think? Maybe I don't have what it takes." He'll do his best to use fear to try to convince you to shrink back and just stay right where you are. The Bible tells me that fear is a spirit. It will affect my emotions, it leave my hands cold and shaking, it leaves me face tear stained and it leaves me lonely at times.

My biggest fear is that these people who stand against me will be right and when I look back, there won’t be anyone standing with me. I do know this to be true, I will at least have Jesus standing with me and after all, I guess that leaves me with the most powerful person on my side… Trump that…

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." - James 1:2-4

Note to self: This might be harder than I first thought…

The time is now...

The time has come to share this big adventure I am on...

Recently the Lord has placed a firm calling on my life and I am really excited about it. You see, I have come to realize my passion in life, you know the very thing that makes your heart race and your eyes fill with tears. Well, my heart beats with passion for young women between the ages of 13 & 23. I believe those years are the most formative in a young woman’s life, and I passionately believe these are the years in which Jesus Christ has the opportunity to drastically impact their lives.

We live in a world where times are changing and the issues these young women have to deal with are often the result of life changing and faith testing circumstances. It is my desire to walk through these very circumstances with these young women.

I can picture us enjoying lunch together, shopping together; picking out Prom Dresses and job interview clothes together. And while we do those things, I want to talk about what it means to be a woman after the Lord’s heart and most of all I want to get these young women into the Word. I want them to know how to find the scriptures they are looking for in their time of need, I want to help them acquire the skills they need to draw closer to the Lord. I want to build relationships with each and every one of them, and out of those relationships I want them to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

I want to create a place where these young women can go, just as they are, carrying all the burdens they carry on a daily basis. I want this place to be where they can do homework at a kitchen table; enjoy a meal or two, watch a movie with friends, and most of all I want this place to be the place for these women to go and know that there is no judgment, only grace, the kind of grace that changes lives. .

So, basically all of that boils down to the very calling the Lord has placed on my life, and that calling, and passionate desire is to begin a ministry with these young women as the focus and it will be called Girls Only Ministry.

I want Girls Only to be the place where they and their girlfriends can talk openly and freely about anything and everything, while also focusing on what the Word has to say about the issues at the center of their discussions.

I have been praying over this for a while now, and much to my surprise, things are moving quickly. Through prayer, endless hours of prayer, I have come to know the Lord’s desire for this ministry and that is for this ministry to be incorporated as Non-Profit Organization. I have been working with legal counsel and am steps away from seeing the deepest desire within my heart and soul become a reality. All I can say, is may this work bring Him Glory and may His work be done in the lives of the young women who will come thru our door.

On a side note, there is a BIG event on the horizon, one that will give you the opportunity to enjoy good food and get to know all about this passion of mine… So for now, check out the blog, yes, I have created a blog for these girls. You can see it by clicking HERE... We are also on facebook... so you can catch up on all the happenings there as well...

Praise and Glory be His and His Alone!

My Heart

My heart is on the line. My reputation will be tested. My ability to love and serve the Lord with everything within me will be shaken and lives are at stake...
this is going to be BIG...
He is the Rock, His works are perfect, and all His ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is He. Deuteronomy 32:4

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. John 14:1

Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do as though you were working for the Lord. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the master you are serving is Christ. Colossians 3:23-24

I would not do this for anyone other than sweet Jesus - Life is changing, things are happening and my prayer is for Him to be glorified...

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

More to come...
